Guest sentiment
A snapshot of what local diners frequently mention about this location.
"Local authentic and historical cafe. The food is nice with local and traditional taste. The toast is thick and soft, for toast lover you may get a try. The place is not big, big group might not suitable. The coffee is nice with variety of sweets or milk preference."
"This cafe opens very early! We reached a few minutes before 8am and they kindly let us in. The food here is really 老款 and certainly evokes nostalgia. Kaya margarine toast (5/5): am typically not a fan of margarine, but this goes so well with kaya and just reminds me of childhood. Goes so well with the soft fluffy toast! Peanut butter toast (3/5): this feels less enjoyable. Maybe it needed a thicker layer of spread, or some crunch, or we should have ordered the one with margarine? But something was missing for sure. It just felt quite flat on taste. Fried beehoon (5/5): this goes so well with the sambal chilli! Has the 古早味 that we like. Fish fillet beehoon soup (4/5): this isnt the normal fish soup that we have at hawker centers. The taste is sour - reminds me of teochew fish - and i really like it. But i think the fragrance is a little lacking, and i didnt like that the fish fillet had quite a bit of bones - hence the 4 instead of 5 stars. I dont think i’ll order this again. I also had a teh c kosong, which I’ll score 3/5 - a little too much evaporated milk and the tea fragrance isnt enough - but everyone has their persona preference for tea I guess. All in all, we really enjoyed the meal here and would love to return."
"A little cafe tucked in corner of a street. It’s in a vintage style with a no frills concept. It’s serves local delights at affordable prices which is great for brunch or lunch if you’re looking for somewhere near Jonker Street. Had an enjoyable time with my family and will visit again when I’m back in malacca"
"Just had the absolute loveliest time here. I had no clue what to order and the staff were so so so lovely- really helpful answering all my questions on what I should order and explaining what was in each dish. They were also so accommodating to make dishes vegetarian. Food was absolutely delicious as was the coffee. 10/10 recommend!!"
"Personally love the atmosphere here in the early morning when the town is just waking up. Here rests the quietness of the waking town as the sun rises just before the bustle of the crowds on holiday in the old town. Almost every surface of the quaint little corner shop boasts a long-outdated household item that used to be common-sight back in the older days. Run by a sweet lady with a smile."
"A very cozy Kopitiam with nice interior and warm service. The food was just mediocre but what’s nice was the owner that greets us and chit chat with us like we are long time neighbours. For me that is money can’t buy service, they don’t just sell food they offer warmth greetings the kind that hug your soul. Their coffee was not bad too. Make sure to ask for “kurang manis” if you are not use to sweet drinks. Highly recommended."
"Food is good Coffee hard to chose from The fish soup is nice Long wait for food cos they took some time to prepare Parking wise is hard to find around that area"
"Worth the visit. Quaint little shop with history. Tasteful decor from days of yore. Simple dishes. Good taste. Wonderful friendly service. Limited groundfloor seating. More upstairs. Nice thick toast with choice of topping. Sweet savory kaya is.my pick. Also recommend the signature gula melaka tea."
